WHAT'S ON IN NOVEMBER
CHURCH SERVICES IN NOVEMBER (unless otherwise stated Church Services start at 10.30 am at the Hilltop Centre) The focus of Services this month will be Remembrance Sunday.
Sunday 4th At our morning service today we will be welcoming Carol Bruton into Enrolled Membership of the Fellowship. The service will include the opportunity to receive Holy Communion.
Sunday 11th Remembrance Sunday. For our service today we join with the other Polesworth Churches for the Act of Remembrance at the Abbey Church (there will not be a service at the Hilltop Centre today). The Service at the Abbey starts at 10 am and will be led by Rev. Stella Wallace of Polesworth and Dordon Congregational Churches. Brigade members will parade to the Service with the other Village organisations led by the Polesworth Pioneers Band. Brigade members should meet at the Fire Station by no later than 9.15 am. Following the Service the parade will reform in the Abbey driveway for the Act of Remembrance at 11 am before parading back to the Fire Station. Parents and friends are encouraged to come and support the youngsters as they add their contribution to this day of remembrance.
Tonight's evening service at St John's Church in Birchmoor will include an act of remembrance and a time of silence to mark the sacrifice of those who died in the two World Wars and the many conflicts since. The service starts at 6. 30 pm. (The Church will be open at 2 pm on Saturday to prepare for the service.)
Sunday 18th The Brigades meet for their regular Parade Service which, this month, will include the enrolment of the youngsters into the Brigade Sections and the Band. (More about this below.)
Sunday 25th We meet as usual at the Hilltop Centre at 10. 30 am. Speaker to be announced.
This months Service for 16 to 25's is tonight at 7 pm, again at the Hilltop Centre.

THE BRIGADES
Everyone is invited to the Remembrance Parade and Service in Polesworth on Sunday 11th November. Come in uniform and wear something warm. (There will be a practice for the colour parties at Polesworth Abbey on Saturday 10th at 10.30 am, the Officers will arrange with the youngsters involved.)
On the 18th we have the Enrolment Service for Brigades and Band. At this service the youngsters make their promises to the leaders and each other as they are enrolled. So what are the promises? Well, the youngsters promise:
To do their best (and additionally for older members - To set a good example)
To listen to their Officers and to help others when they are able
To come regularly to Brigade and Band, and to attend parades whenever possible.
The Officers will take the youngsters through the promises beforehand. Additionally, the leaders will be confirming their commitment to the activities. Parents are invited to come and see their children make the promises.
For the Boys' Brigade there is the annual Battalion Cross Country competition on Saturday 17th November at Burntwood Rugby Club. This is for Juniors, Company and Senior lads. Our Seniors will be defending the 2nd place they gained last year. First race is at 10 am. (More details from the Officers nearer the date.)
Advance notice for the Anchor Boys. The next Anchor Boy Fun Day is on Saturday 1st December at Wesley Chapel in West Bromwich, it starts at 10. 30 am and lasts two hours. For transport arrangements and other details contact the Officers. Lads have attended in previous years and had a really good time!
Two reminders for the Boys' Brigade leaders. Training on the new Discovery Programme Book for the Company Section is on
8th November at Chasetown Methodist Church starting at 7. 30 pm, and the next Battalion Meeting is on Monday 26th November 7. 30 pm at Charlemont Methodist Church, West Bromwich. See David regarding both.
For Girls' Brigade leaders and Auxiliaries there is a District training day on 17th November at the home of the 1st Kingshurst Company. See Christine for details.
X:site Birmingham continues to excite our 7 to 12 year olds. The next event is on Saturday evening 17th November, cost £1.50. For those a little older (12 to 19 years) Reunited at St Martin's in the Bull Ring is happening on Saturday evening 10th November, free entry. More details about both events from Christine or David Harris.
Just a note of thanks to the girls of the Senior Section for the beautiful banner of the Lord's Prayer that they made and presented to the Fellowship.
Now for something completely different. Justice: Then & Now is the title of the open day at Warwick Crown Court on Saturday 10th November. It's described as a free, fun-filled day for all the family. It offers tours of the cells and dungeon, mock trials, a turn in the stocks, tales of crime and punishment from yesteryear and much more. The court is open from 10 am to 3 pm.
