WHAT'S ON IN JANUARY

CHURCH SERVICES IN JANUARY (unless stated otherwise Services start at 10.30 am at the Hilltop Centre).

Sunday 6th           At our Service today we welcome Alan & Geraldine Ensink.  Alan & Geraldine are members of the Boaters Christian Fellowship who have remained in the area following the successful Canal Mission in the Autumn, currently their narrowboat is located at Fazeley.  Alan will be the speaker for the Service and, together with Geraldine, will be sharing some thoughts about life as they live it on the canals.  There will be an opportunity to receive Holy Communion at this Service.

Sunday 13th        Our morning Service will be led by Neil Painter.

Our evening Service at St John's Church in Birchmoor will be 'Songs of Praise' and everyone is invited to choose a hymn or song to be included in the Service.  Let David (893788) or Elaine (893752) have your choice by Saturday 12th January.  The Service starts at 6.30 pm.

Sunday 20th       At our Parade Service for the Brigades today we will be visited by Keith Asbury, Northern Area Liaison Officer for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.  Keith is attending the Service to make presentations to Matthew Webb (Silver Award), Sam Thompson, Katie Wiggall and Heather Jones (Bronze Award).  Congratulations to them all on their successful completion of the Award requirements.

Our Service especially for young adults is tonight starting at 7 pm in the Hilltop Centre.  This monthly Service led by Karl Hughes, features opportunities for questions and discussions on aspects of faith and Christianity.  The format is informal and welcoming.

Sunday 27th        Today our thoughts turn to the Christian Church worldwide as we pray for people of faith everywhere.  In countries where the Church is attacked that Christians will remain steadfast, in countries where the Church is marginalised that its contribution will be recognised, and in countries where the Church is dismissed as irrelevant that its relevance will be understood.  (In the Spring we will be hosting two talks by Vaughan & Enid Thomas of the Open Doors organisation, they will be bringing news of life in countries where Christianity is specifically threatened by legislation and intolerance.)

O God, there is some mischief in me, deep as a dandelion root,

bringing forth a thousand little seeds of naughtiness.

In this new year, turn that mischief into kindness

to produce a million good deeds and more.

What do you do when you age out of Boys' Brigade?  Well, Daniel Webb has decided to undertake training to become an Officer in Brigade so he can put back something into the organisation that has been part of his life as a lad for the last 14 years.  Daniel's training starts on the weekend of 26th and 27th January with a third day of training planned for early March.  We wish him well!

One final meeting for the Boys' Brigade Officers this month is the Battalion Meeting on Wednesday 30th January at Lichfield Methodist Church starting at 7. 30 pm.  David will be representing the Company at this meeting.
