7 Aug 2006 - Dramatic visual aid for Pump Aid church service
Karen Mercer, the UK representative of PUMP AID, was at our parade service in May, and we presented another £200 to pay for the installation of a water pump in a school or village community in Zimbabwe. Big thank you to all who gave towards the cost of the pump.
To draw attention to the plight of those who don't have fresh, clean water on tap David arranged to draw a bucket of water from the river in Polesworth, for this to be carried up Fairfields Hill, and for it to feature in our service. Thanks to those who were up early to support! One bucket of water and a half mile journey was an effort but it really didn't mirror the efforts of others who carry three times as much over distances of up to five miles - and it's usually the women and children that do it! We will continue to support the work of PUMP AID during 2006.
